Return of the Jordi

Celler Jordi Miro
Corbera d’Ebre, Terra Alta DO. Catalunya
by the Miro family

Celler Jordi Miro is a project born out of a deeply rooted passion for honest viticulture, sustainable production and combining traditional methods with an inquisitive and progressive approach.

Three generations of the Miro family have cultivated this region before Jordi with much of his childhood spent in the vineyard learning to tend the land. Using his inherited viticultural knowledge and the help of a few friends Jordi planted his own vines in Terra Alta (180km southwest of Barcelona) at almost 800m elevation a little over 20 years ago. It was only natural he would continue the tradition with the family name on bottles produced under the Terra Alta DO.

The passion for vino is alive & well in the Miro family. His daughters now work alongside his friend Sean Pentacosa* and their father just as he did, producing their own labels and pushing him to take his already progressive manner of production further. Organically dry grown vines produce low yields, under half of the authorised quantity for the Terra Alta DO, while indigenous yeasts and a gentle Miro, and Pentacosa, hand bring the fruit to life.
Wines full of energy, character and true to their terroir with a calculated modern touch.

*Aside from teaching Jordi to speak English, Sean puts in hard work helping Jordi's visions come to life, he has a endearing chuckle at Jordi's comment of the two "enthusiastically overcoming obstacles". Deserving of an honourable mention.
