Introducing, Lansdowne Wines

Lansdowne Wines
Adelaide Hills, SA
By Tass and Eliza

Tass and Eliza run Lansdowne Wines, “it’s our life and passion, we believe that everything we put into our backyard can be seen in the glass, and we aim to reflect our small estate with care and integrity. “ The family has been tending to the vineyard since 2002, continuously improving sustainable practices and working with new varieties to better understand the terroir.

Lansdowne vineyard is one of the slowest ripening sites in the Adelaide Hills. Sitting at 350 meters in the Forreston Valley, the property has a Mediterranean climate with cold wet winters, warm dry summers and endless autumns. Day-night temperature range is a result of early sunsets and cool air pooled in the valley at night – a combination key to creating flavour complexity by slowing down the ripening process.

We’re super excited to be sharing these wines around, get in touch to check them out.
Cheers!

It's not my fault I like bubbles
Minimal intervention winemaking. Crushed and chilled to press with minimal skin contact. Cold fermentation in stainless steel. Drawing you in with a fine persistent bead and smooth palate, then finishing crisp and dry – leaving lingering flavours of rose petal and cream.
Super Plonk Pet Nat
Our long awaited 'SUPER PLONK' Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer Pet Nat is under cap. Savvy B has been out of favor for too long, and our vineyard makes it sing, so we’ve been creative and gone a little wild with it. Fun in the sun or fun in safety of your residences — but perfect for a cheeky get-together. Tropical, lush, tart, fresh and bubbly. Unfined, unfiltered and undisgorged.
Super Happy Chardonnay
Whole bunch pressed and underwent 24 hour natural ferment before being transferred to matured oak barriques (approx 10% new). Gentle, and infrequent lees stirring occurred during it’s 8 months in barrel. While it sat there peacefully maturing away in barrel it narrowly escaped the Cudlee Creek bushfires just down the road. This is a lucky and very happy chardonnay.
Downe Lo Rose
Amber wine made of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Gris picked at opposite ends of the harvest. They get friendly with a touch of Pinot Noir Rosé in a bright, sour delight of spicy-food-friendliness. Chill down and get to know each other. Whole bunch pressed and fermented on pinot gris skins for 7 days. Transferred off skins to complete ferment in oak. Racked off fine lees and blended with a touch of pinot noir rose. Unfined, unfiltered, 10ppm sulfur at bottling.
New Pinot
In early March we hand-picked our young Pinot Noir block as well as a little Kuitpo Guwertztraminer. They were co-carbonic macerated to become forever friends. Raspberry jube, lychee and rose petals on a bed of herbs. The perfect all day-aperitif ensued, especially with a chill. 55% Pinot Noir / 45% Gewürztraminer.
Lansdowne Cabernet Sauvignon
Whole berries, open top fermented and left on skins for 13 days. Maturation in old French oak for 18 months. Bottle aged 6 months prior to release.
